Walks & Cycles

We may be in the city but that doesn't mean you can't embrace the great outdoors! From leisurely walks along the Grand Canal and coastal bike rides to an energetic hike in the Dublin Mountains, there are so many places to get active and get close to nature.

Local Walking Routes

The Grand Canal

1km from Hyatt Centric
There is a sense of calmness that overcomes you when walking alongside the Grand Canal. It may be the soothing sound of flowing water which contrasts to the hectic city that surrounds it or watching all the wildlife that make the canal their home. There is so much to see including a statue of poet Patrick Kavanagh, stunning weeping willows and the colourful houses in Portobello.

Howth Cliff Walk

17km from Hyatt Centric
A breath taking cliff walk that starts off in Howth Village and leads around the charming harbour and up in to the cliffs. The full route takes just under 2 hours to complete. Along the way you'll be treated to stunning views of the Lambay Islands and Dublin Bay. Refuel afterwards with a well-earned treat in one of the many local cafes, pubs or restaurants.

The Great South Wall Walk

7.4km from Hyatt Centric
Use Google Maps to navigate to the free carpark at the Great South Wall and from there enjoy the 4km walk out to the famous Poolbeg Lighthouse. This promenade type walk will take approximately 30-40 minutes each way depending how brisk a pace you decide to walk. With an invigorating sea breeze and spectacular views it is a great way to start your day.

Hellfire Club Hike

11km from Hyatt Centric
Mix exercise and excitement with a hike to one of Dublin’s most iconic old ruins, The Hellfire Club, which sits high atop Montpelier Hill in the Dublin Mountains. To get to the ruin you can either follow the wide track that spirals its way from the car park to the top or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, take the desire path straight up! It’s shorter but will definitely get those lungs working.

Local Cycle Trails

Phoenix Park

We just love the Phoenix Park and are so lucky it is right on our doorstep. There are loads of different routes to choose from and no matter which way go you’ll be in for a treat. Stretching over 1,700 acres, Phoenix Park is one of Europe’s largest urban parks and with its largely flat open space it is an urban cyclist's dream. Keep an eye out for Áras an Uachtaráin and the resident herd of deer!

Glasnevin to St. Anne's Park

11.8km Cycle Length
This 11.8km trail starts in Glasnevin and travels along the tree-lined Griffith Avenue which is the longest tree-lined avenue in the Northern Hemisphere void of any retail. 9.8km Cycle Length
A cycle along the East Coast with the sea breeze on your face sounds like the ideal bike trail to us! Starting off at Sandymount Beach heading down to Booterstown ensuring you get the best views of the Dublin Coast and the infamous Poolbeg Chimneys. Once at the end of your cycle a great way to cool down is a dip in the Irish Sea at the 40 Foot.

The Grand Canal

The banks of the Grand Canal also make a perfect cycling trail. Set off from the exciting urban space that is Grand Canal Dock and head along the tree-lined route to Ballsbridge.
